Lizzie Groth ’17 represented Holy Name well at the 2016 English Speaking Union (ESU) Cleveland Branch Shakespeare Competition this past Saturday. Lizzie won Holy Name’s own Shakespeare competition earlier this winter after performing a monologue by Portia from the play, Julius Caesar. Because of this win, Lizzie then qualified for this weekend’s semifinal competition, where she again performed her monologue, as well as one of Shakespeare’s sonnets. Lizzie did a great job at the Shakespeare Competition, and learned a lot from the other contestants. She was able to participate in workshops with actors and teachers from the Great Lakes Theater Festival, which included improvisations, and sword fighting work! It was a great day, and Holy Name is very proud of Lizzie for her wonderful performances!

Mason Kuhr ’16 competed in the Rotary Speech Competition on Tuesday, winning second place with his speech on Police Body Cameras. Mason competed against four other Parma schools and received a cash prize for his efforts. Well done, Mason!
