Holy Name is very proud of Jordon Lebron ’22, who was chosen as a winner of The Diversity Center of Northeast Ohio’s 2020 Class of LeadDIVERSITY Promote Change contest. Jordon’s winning essay addressed how he can promote diversity and inclusion in his community, which includes Holy Name. As a winner, he received a $1,000 cash prize and will be recognized at the Diversity Center’s Humanitarian Dinner in November. Additionally, due to his efforts, Holy Name won a leadership program delivered by The Diversity Center of Northeast Ohio.
In his essay, Jordon proposed implementing a Lunch and Learn Diversity program. At this event, community members – in the school, from the business community, etc. – would come together to learn about the different cultures that exist in their respective neighborhoods and schools. Jordon said, “I strongly feel the program can create a pathway for individuals to open up to and understand any current issues, challenges, and community concerns regarding equity and inclusion that various people encounter every day. Sparking thought and open communication can allow ideas to flow and creates an opportunity to implement change.”
