Holy Name was honored to celebrate Veterans Day with retired United States Army Colonel Ken Dyer ’82. During his more than 29-year career in the Army, Col. Dyer served in multiple leadership and staff positions, including Company, Battalion and Brigade command. He has had operational assignments in Hawaii, Fort Campbell, KY, Fort Bragg, NC and the Pentagon, and has helped with disaster relief efforts in Florida, Louisiana and Southwest Asia. Since 9/11, Col. Dyer has served four tours in the Middle East, with assignments in Afghanistan, Kuwait and Iraq.

Up until his retirement, he proudly wore the Master Parachutist, Parachute Rigger, Air Assault and Army Staff badges.

During his talk, Col. Dyer encouraged students to thank the country’s military veterans, and to also give back to their communities in some way this year. We thank Col. Dyer, as well as his family members, for joining us for a beautiful celebration this morning. May God Bless our veterans, and all citizens, today and every day.
